I am a terrible, terrible wedding blogger. I admit it. I am so far behind on blogging all the beautiful weddings we shot last season. Why? Because a typical wedding post takes me 3-5 hours to create. No joke. It takes me a long time to pick the images, then I need to edit them a bit, arrange them into layouts, and optimize them for the web. There are million ways to do this faster – using templates or photoshop actions or whatever, but I feel like our clients deserve a custom treatment. But sometimes it’s hard to find a big chunk of time to spend on blogging, especially while we are currently pretty busy designing albums. (The longer I do this, the more I realize that there’s no such thing as a “slow” part of the year in wedding photography….anyone that tells you winter is slow is crazy! There’s so much production work to keep us busy!)
So yeah, I kinda suck. I hope my brides forgive me for the delay in getting these posts online. Going through the images from Alexis & Frank’s wedding today so much fun. Their wedding was a feast of colors, and at the end of this grey winter, I’m ready for lots of color.
Alexis and Frank currently live in Florida, but Alexis grew up in Grosse Pointe, and they planned an intimate ceremony in her parents’ backyard with a reception at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. Frank and his family are from the island of St. Croix, so the couple incorporated a lot of details to give the event some Caribbean flair – including a steel drum band, and colorful arrangements of tropical flowers. The day was full of vibrant colors, happy tears, and lots of laughter. Alexis & Frank wrote their own vows and it was one of the most touching ceremonies we witnessed all year.
Here are some of my favorites – warning – I’ve got LOTS of them!

Ceremony: Private Residence, Grosse Pointe
Reception: Grosse Pointe War Memorial
Florist: Thrifty Florist
Make-Up: Airbrush Michigan
THANK YOU Alexis & Frank for letting us document your day! We wish you the very best!
