Hello there. I can’t believe it’s Wednesday already. I also can’t believe there was SNOW on the ground yesterday. In April. Today the wind is whipping around so furiously outside that it’s all I can hear, tucked into my office, with all the windows shut. Can it just be spring already? Some days I am appalled that I moved back to Michigan for seasons. It’s been three winters since I returned from living in Florida, and can I just state for the record that seasons are totally overrated?! Seasons stop being fun when you are still clearing snow off your car in April.
With the weather being so unrelenting, it’s been hard to schedule our spring engagement sessions, because spring is no where to be found. But we weren’t going to let that stop us from photographing Erica and Matt, who will be our first wedding of 2011 in just a few short weeks. As all four of us are DIA members, deciding to use the museum as a backdrop was a no brainer. We had such a fun time exploring the museum with this sweet and funny couple. They were up for anything and completely at ease with the camera. My favorite moment was when Matt spontaneously grabbed Erica and they started dancing in the Rivera Court, despite the hubbub of other museum visitors and the staff setting up for an event. They made it their moment, and the resulting images – like the one above – are some of my faves.
We visited several spots throughout, guided in part by Matt who is a volunteer docent. (Which is something I’ve always wanted to do, but have not found the time for yet.) Here are some more of our favorites:
After we wrapped up Erica & Matt’s session, Andy and I finally got a chance to check out the André Kertész exhibition which we’ve been meaning to see for awhile. One of our resolutions this year was to actually put our DIA membership to better use. So here’s hoping this isn’t our only trip to the DIA this year.
Thanks Erica & Matt for being such fun people to work with. We are looking forward to your wedding – it will be here in a blink of an eye!
