Kelly & Don’s Detroit Wedding

Kelly and Don were so much fun to work with.  They are funny and playful, and we got to spend a lot of time with them during their engagement session around WSU.  The area around the Wayne State campus has always been meaningful to them, and so we found ourselves re-visiting a few of those Midtown locations on their wedding day.  Fittingly, they tied the knot in Detroit as well, at the beautiful Holy Family Church near Greektown.

Their reception took place at the Italian-American Cultural Center in Clinton Township.  Don has a background in event lighting, so he was in charge of the reception – and he did an amazing job!

I love recessional shots….they end up on the blog quite frequently.  Such great expressions once the formality is over and it’s time to party!

At this point in the day, the sky went from looking a bit threatening to a full on summer thunderstorm.  In the photo below, it was actually pouring out, but we found a covered spot at the entrance of Old Main and kept going.

The reception at the Italian American Cultural Center was fantastic.  The room was completely transformed with colorful up-lighting, and great decor and linens. (I especially love the ghost chairs at the head table.  I have a small obsession with modern chairs.)   Don even had fireworks on the dance floor for the first dance!  Crazy!
