We met up with Liz and Nick for a late fall engagement session. It was a extremely cold and windy day, but we had so much fun! We started their session at Comerica Park and then later on we stumbled upon a really amazing location, which you can see above. I feel like we won the photography lottery where that was concerned – a kind gentleman saw us photographing (and shivering) on the street and invited us in for an impromptu tour. Then he took us to the top floor and our jaws hit the floor – there was a huge ballroom with great bones, but transformed from years of neglect into this grungy photo nirvana with a stage, columned archway, and all kinds of exposed brick and raw plaster. It was basically a dream come true for me. LOL. And we were just at the point in the session where I think we had all reached our coldness threshold, so it was perfect. (The owners are planning to renovate this ballroom for events, but a selfish part of me wants it to stay as it is. I am sure it will be amazing when finished though.)
If any brides reading this want to do a trash-the-dress type session here, get in touch. I think it would be rad. (And “trashing” is most definitely optional.)
We had Liz & Nick running all over downtown, jumping into semi-busy streets and wandering into this random building with us on a whim. They were super easygoing and fun and I think we got some great shots. Some of our favorites are below. :)
