When Barbara and Ben told us they wanted to have their engagement session at the Garden Bowl we were thrilled. It’s a Detroit icon and a place we’ve always wanted to photograph. And who could be better models than these two? We had so much fun working with them that we could have spent the whole day there. I’m not much of a bowler, but a bowling alley has always been a location Andy wanted to shoot, and I don’t think we could have asked for a cooler one to photograph. There were so many great colors and textures, and Barbara and Ben were real naturals and really rocked the camera! What an awesome day this was.
We really encourage our clients to think outside the box when it comes to their engagement session locations. It can be hard to find a place sometimes because a lot of local places have started restricting photography, but the effort in finding a unique place is totally worth it.
Thanks to the Garden Bowl for being so accommodating and not batting an eye as we dragged all our gear in!
We couldn’t resist getting a couple shots along Woodward at the end of our session. Even though it was kind of a gloomy day, the light was actually really nice, and I really love these two images with the puddles.
