This past weekend we received a last minute invitation to have lunch downtown. Afterwards we decided it was just too nice of a day to return home right away. So we took a detour to Belle Isle and headed to the conservatory. Visiting the conservatory has been on my list of things to do this past winter, because I badly needed to see things alive and growing. How ironic that I didn’t make it out there until spring finally arrived! Nevertheless, it was fun to feast our eyes on color, fresh blossoms, and the only palm trees I know of within ten miles of home.
I have a menagerie of tiny succulents that live on my kitchen windowsill. I bought 3 or 4 from a vendor in Eastern Market a few years ago, and they have multiplied into about 20 plants. None of them look like this beast below though!
Andy’s got a knack for making flowers look like weird little creatures. This one reminds me of some kind of freaky teletubby with wings.
