I’m still trying catch up on all the weddings I need to blog and I have a really fun one today. Kristi & Andrew got married in Tennessee, but booked us to photograph their reception at the wonderful Westin Book-Cadillac in Detroit. We love working at the Book-Cadillac because it’s right in the heart of downtown and close to a lot of great locations for photography. What was really unique about this day is that Kristi & Andrew rented a limo and gave us LOTS of time to play, and it was just us! Since they had already had their ceremony, there no bridal party, and a lot less restrictions on their time. It was quite the novelty for us to get driven around all afternoon. Even when our clients offer for us to come in their limo/party bus there usually just isn’t enough room to accommodate all our gear, or just logistically it doesn’t work out. But it was just the four of us and we had a great time chatting with them and visiting some great locations. The street with the graffiti is a location we had scouted ages ago and we kept waiting for the right couple who would be in that area or give us enough time to get there.
We hit all the major Detroit landmarks, and then returned to the hotel for a lively reception with music from the band Rumplestiltskin. The Detroit theme carried through to the party with motown music, table markers created from vintage Detroit postcards, and a custom Tigers jersey serving as a unique guestbook. Thanks to Kristi & Andrew for giving us lots of free reign and being so fun!
